The Arrangement, Part 4

Posted on Wed Oct 24th, 2018 @ 9:10am by Civilian Tamar Todd & Civilian Esperanza Roman

Mission: Every Day - March 2012
Location: Townsend Tower/Infirmary
Timeline: Thursday, March 8, 2012/Early morning

Esperanza looked up when the door to Mary Ellen’s infirmary room opened. She tugged the earbuds from her ears and put aside the tablet on which she’d been working as she stared at the naked, transformed teenage girl. She was filled out again, her skin a healthy glow, her hair no longer limp and brittle, breasts perky, lips full. As Esperanza watched, bruises and scratches and the marks of passionate sex faded from her skin. Ecstasy and panic warred on her face.

Esper stood up quickly. She darted a look into the room at the body on the bed and shut the door before enfolding Mary Ellen into her arms. “Shhh...it’s okay,” Esper murmured.

Mary Ellen broke down, sobbing against Esper’s chest. “He’s...He’s dead!” she choked. “I...I killed...I killed him!”

Esper stroked Mary Ellen’s hair. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” she said. “It had to be done…” She pressed her face into Mary Ellen’s golden hair, feeling her own tears. She didn’t envy Mary Ellen the trial that her powers would be.

“The worst part?” Mary Ellen said as she calmed. “I… I liked it. Loved it. I felt so… alive. And… And I think he did, too, at the end…”

“Shhh…” Esper said, shaking her head. She really didn’t want to know the details. “It will be alright. Sheldon will be alright.”

Mary Ellen blinked. “How?” She looked up at Esper with those wide blue eyes filled with tears.

Esper pushed aside the feelings the teen’s pheromones stirred up. “Sheldon is special. Trust me.”

Esper led Mary Ellen over to a cupboard. She opened it and pulled out a set of school sweats. “Put these on, then go to your room, grab a shower, and get some sleep. We can talk more in the morning.”

Mary Ellen nodded numbly. “I don’t know if I can sleep,” she admitted. “I feel so...jazzed with energy. Strong.”

“No doubt you are,” Esper said. “That’s the way your powers work. Hit the gym first, if you need to, but get some sleep.”

Mary Ellen nodded. “Thank you, Esper,” she said, going up on her toes to kiss the older woman.

Esper smiled and pushed her toward the door.
