Strange Awakenings, Part 3 (Conclusion)
Location: Medical Wing, Townsend Tower - Atlanta, Georgia
Timeline: The Year of the Apocalypse - Monday, 16 January 2012/Afternoon
Cecily poured her own water and sipped it as they waited until the door opened and a pretty, freckled redhead in her twenties entered, smiling brightly. “Good afternoon, ladies,” she greeted cheerily in a thick Appalachian drawl. “Ah s’pose ya’ll want ta get out a those hospital gowns before some guy catches sight a yer butt,” she said with a giggle, putting down some boxes. “An’ ya’ll prob’ly want a shower an’ somethin’ ta eat. Ah’m Tamar Todd,” she said, “an’ that’s mah job ‘round heah. Ah guess Ah’m the house mom.”
The redhead in the bed arched an eyebrow, trying to decipher the friendly woman’s accent, and set her water glass down. “I would like a shower, clothes would be nice, and I’m not as shy about showing my backside as Cecily is.” Talia chuckled slightly, poking Cece in the arm playfully. “Food can come later. I’m not entirely certain that I could hold anything down right now.”
“Of course,” Tamar said. “If ya like, there’s a bit of a shower there.” She indicated a door off of their room, a small bathroom. “Ya’ll’d have ta take turns. Or there’s one in yer rooms.”
Cecily shrugged, glancing at Talia for her opinion, coloring a bit at Talia’s teasing.
After only a moment of thought, Talia answered, “I could use some privacy right now. The last few days have been trying, to say the least. I will opt for the bathroom in my room, if you don’t mind.”
“Of course,” Tamar said. “Ah brought some simple sweats an’ a tee for jus’ that. Save the good clothes fer after ya’ll clean up.” She turned to the bags and pulled out some Townsend Academy sweatpants and t-shirts.
Cecily raised an eyebrow.
“Ah know,” Tamar sighed. “It wasn’t mah idea ta put the T an’ A on the butt.”
Talia actually chuckled, shaking her head. “I’ll have to save those for Xander,” she said, then started laughing heartily. “He enjoys such humor.”
Tamar gave a wry smiled. “So does mah little brother,” she commented. She went back to wait by the door as the girls changed.
Cecily looked over Talia and shrugged. She shyly peeled off the hospital gown, naked underneath, though her skin looked very healthy and unbruised, no trace of what she’d recently been through. She was a bit embarrassed to be this way around someone as beautiful as Talia and quickly tugged on the sweats and t-shirt, commando style.
Talia was far more open and less concerned about being nude in front of other people. She quickly stripped out of the hospital gown, glad to be rid of it. She too simply pulled on the sweatsuit and pulled her hair up in a quick bun. “I am looking forward to a hot shower and some more stylish clothing,” she said, picking up the hospital gown and eyeing it dubiously before tossing it back onto the bed that she’d vacated.
“Of course,” Tamar smiled. “Though those are really comfortable.” She frowned. “Hm. It’s a bit chilly in heah, isn’t it? Guess we’ll avoid the boys as we go.”
Cecily looked down and quickly put her hands over her breasts, flushing in embarrassment.
Talia chuckled. The woman was used to turning heads and actually rather enjoyed it. It was a petty power trip, but it was one that she used to her advantage fairly regularly. “Come, Cecily. No one can actually see anything. And you’re pretty enough to turn heads all on your own, you’re just afraid to own that.”
Cecily colored, but gave an awkward smile, lowering her hands.
Tamar returned the smile and led the girls out of the room through the body of the main infirmary. She stopped at the front desk to sign them out and then they went to an elevator out in the corridor and took it upstairs.
“This is a co-ed floor, since yer both older than our students,” Tamar told them, “but you’ll have individual rooms. “Ah’ve got ya’ll set up near Jon’s room.” She stopped and indicated one of the doors. “This one is for Xander.” She indicated the next door. It even had his name on it. “Cecily. Talia.” She indicated the next two rooms. Conveniently, the girls were not placed next door to their beaus.
Tamar opened Talia’s door with a key card and handed cards with pictures of Talia and Cecily on them. “These will give you access to all public areas of the Tower,” she explained, “as well as your rooms. More secure areas, like where Xander is, will still be off limits without a chaperone, for your safety, and ours. Come.”
Tamar stepped inside. The room was rather spacious, with a small sitting room, a bedroom, bath, and walk in closet, and small kitchenette. It had a gorgeous view overlooking Atlanta. On the kitchen counter sat a large plate of dark chocolate brownies, still steaming from the oven. “Ya’ll will find your clothes in the closet an’ drawers. We didn’t replicate all your clothes, however,” she said, giving Talia a look. “Really, how many clothes an’ shoes do ya need, girl?” she said with a chuckle. “But it ain’t yer real designer stuff, so Ah thought Ah’d get yeh this, somethin’ Xander might like.”
Tamar pulled some boxes from the shopping bags and pulled off the tops, revealing expensive bra and panty set, along with some other clothing.
The woman looked over the clothing and an eyebrow arched curiously. All of the offered items were of the perfect size, and while they weren’t all the custom designed and fitted clothing that she was used to, they were still high end. “Even matching shoes. You would think that the person that bought these knows me,” Talia said with a chuckle, holding up a slinky flaming red and orange dress with slits up both sides to the hip.
Tamar shrugged. “Ah don’t see how,” she said. “We got your measurements when we scanned ya’ll in medical. Ah had our business director Esper help me pick them out since this is way outta mah league,” the redhead admitted. “She’s the one inta the designer fashions.”
Cecily raised an eyebrow, lifting a dainty little negligee up and looking over at Talia. Yeah, Xander would like it...
Talia laughed when she saw the look on Cece’s face as she held the negligee up. “He will like that,” she said, smiling at Xander’s sister, a bit of mischief dancing in her green eyes. She glanced at Tamar, and grinned. “Well, this Esper has good tastes in designers. I’ll have to ask her where she found these things. Perhaps a shopping trip and spa day would be in order. What do you think, Cece? A bit of pampering after our harrowing adventure?”
Cecily smiled and nodded, giving a sigh. She put the negligee down.
“Ah’ll show ya to yer room,” Tamar told Cecily. “It’s about the same layout -- and the same dark chocolate brownies,” she said. “There’s milk in the fridge ta go with ‘em. Ah’ll let ya’ll get cleaned up then. Ah’ll be back in…” she checked the time, “four hours. That’ll give ya’ll some time ta rest an’ then ya’ll can have dinner with Xander.”
“Thank you, Tamar,” Talia said, setting the clothing aside and gave her a genuinely warm smile. “I appreciate the consideration in all of this. I’ll even try the brownies, even though I don’t normally indulge in such things.”
Tamar smiled. “Trust me. Better’n an orgasm. Mah mama’s recipe.” She blushed. “Not tha’ Ah know what that is,” she murmured in embarrassment.
Cecily raised an eyebrow and glanced at Talia before following the other redhead out.
